As the Flower Blooms — Episode 7: The Secret Behind the Locked Door
Written by Petal Perfection Flower Company
Some secrets need room to bloom.
Morning arrived at Petal Perfection Flower Company, but nobody had slept peacefully.
On the design table lay the golden key, its white satin ribbon twisted around the little cream tag.
SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING.
Daisy leaned closer.
“Perhaps she knows who keeps leaving greenery in the sink.”
The blue Hydrangea gave her a sharp look.
“This is serious.”
“So is a clogged drain.”
Peony watched Rose, whose crimson petals had tightened around her face.
“Rose,” she whispered, “what does the key open?”
Before Rose could answer, Lily spoke.
“The cabinet beneath the old worktable.”
Silence settled over the studio.
Even the Hydrangeas stopped whispering.
Daisy slowly turned toward Lily.
“That was an awfully specific answer for someone who supposedly knows nothing.”
Lily lowered her white petals.
“I never said I knew nothing.”
“No,” Daisy replied. “You just spent three episodes looking like a guilty lampshade.”
Rose moved protectively beside Lily.
“Enough.”
But Peony had already spotted the cabinet: a narrow wooden door nearly hidden beneath trailing ribbon and a basket of supplies.
She lifted the key.
“Then let’s find out.”
A Little Breathing Room
They gathered around the cabinet so closely that Daisy’s petals pressed against Peony, and one of the Hydrangeas caught a leaf in Lily’s stem.
“Ow,” Lily murmured.
“Everyone back up,” Rose said. “Give her room.”
Daisy shuffled sideways.
“Apparently we’re uncovering secrets with proper spacing.”
Peony carefully slipped the key into the lock.
It turned.
Inside sat a small wooden box, a faded photograph, and an envelope addressed in elegant handwriting:
To Rose—when you are ready to tell the truth.
Rose stared at the photograph.
It showed a garden filled with crimson roses and white lilies. At its center stood a magnificent white rose.
Peony looked from the photograph to Lily.
“Who is she?”
Lily’s voice trembled.
“The flower who sent me.”
The lavender Hydrangea nearly toppled backward.
“You mean someone sent you here?”
Rose closed her eyes.
“I thought she was gone.”
Then came a soft knock at the studio door.
Once.
Twice.
Daisy turned toward the sound.
“Please tell me that’s a delivery.”
A voice drifted through the doorway.
“Rose? I believe you have something of mine.”
In the morning light stood a white rose.
And around her stem was a white satin ribbon.

Flower Care Tip: Give Your Blooms Room
Our dramatic flowers needed a little breathing room—and fresh flowers benefit from gentle handling, too. Avoid forcing a bouquet into a vase with an opening so narrow that it crushes stems or presses delicate blooms together. Choose a clean vase that comfortably supports the arrangement, and keep foliage below the waterline removed.
For a finished floral arrangement, preserve the designer’s placement and follow the care instructions provided.
