As the Flower Blooms Episode 11: “The Delivery Nobody Ordered”
Written by Petal Perfection Flower Company
The lavender-ribboned box sat just inside the doorway of Petal Perfection Flower Company.
No delivery truck.
No footsteps.
Just one fresh crimson petal resting on the lid.
Daisy leaned forward.
“Well,” she whispered, “either someone has terrible delivery procedures, or we’re about to have a very interesting morning.”
“Don’t touch it,” Rose said.
Daisy stopped.
“You say that about everything interesting.”
Behind them, the Hydrangeas rustled.
“She recognized the ribbon.”
“She recognized the petal.”
“She’s pretending she recognized neither.”
“I can hear you,” Rose said.
“We know,” they whispered.
A Package with a Past
Peony studied the box.
Yesterday, the ledger had revealed that the old garden hadn’t simply disappeared. It had been moved—to protect someone.
Then there was the receipt Rose had hidden.
The one mentioning Peony.
“Is that for me?” Peony asked.
Rose’s silence lasted a moment too long.
Lily turned toward White Rose.
“You knew the delivery was coming.”
“I knew it was supposed to come,” White Rose replied.
“That,” Daisy said, “is an exceptionally uncomfortable distinction.”
White Rose moved closer to the table.
“Bring it inside properly. And keep it level.”
For once, nobody argued.
Beneath the Ribbon
The box was placed beside the open ledger. Lily loosened the lavender ribbon while Daisy watched with the concentration of someone determined never to miss another secret.
Inside lay a small bundle wrapped in faded linen.
And an envelope.
Peony’s name was written across the front.
Rose reached toward it.
Peony drew back.
“No. You don’t get to hide another piece.”
Rose lowered her petals.
“I was trying to protect you.”
“Then help me understand.”
For a moment, even the Hydrangeas were quiet.
Peony opened the envelope.
If this has reached you, the garden’s records have finally been opened.
What was moved can still be found.
But the photograph does not show the whole garden.
Daisy glanced at the faded picture on the table.
“Of course it doesn’t. Why would any clue around here arrive complete?”
The Missing Corner
Beneath the linen was a small brass garden marker, its edges darkened with age.
Lily read the inscription.
“East bed.”
White Rose closed her eyes.
Rose turned away.
Peony looked between them.
“What was in the east bed?”
“Nothing,” Rose said quickly.
White Rose opened her eyes.
“No,” she said. “That’s what we were told to say.”
Daisy pulled the photograph closer.
Crimson roses. White lilies. White Rose at the center.
But the right-hand edge was strangely straight.
She examined the backing, already loosened when the hidden letter had been discovered.
“This photograph wasn’t just hiding something behind it.”
She looked up.
“Someone cut part of it away.”
Before the Last Bloom Falls
Peony lifted the linen again.
A second, smaller photograph slipped onto the table.
It showed the missing corner of the garden.
An iron gate.
A narrow path.
And beyond it, an entire bed of blush peonies.
Peony stared.
Rose finally spoke.
“You weren’t the only one.”
The studio seemed to shrink around them.
“The only what?” Peony whispered.
Before Rose could answer, Daisy noticed writing on the back.
She turned the photograph over.
Her bright expression vanished.
“What does it say?” Lily asked.
Daisy read slowly.
“Rose knows where the others went.”
At the doorway, the bell rang.
Once.
Then a voice they had never heard before said:
“Good. Then perhaps she can explain why I was left behind.”
